Shakespeare Project
Reflection
During this project we learned and explored Shakespeare and how he affected our culture today. We learned about Iambic Pentameter and other forms of verse that Shakespeare used during his plays. Each person had a different role in the play and outside the play. For example I was Oberon in the play and I was a dramaturg outside the play. As a dramaturg I wrote an essay on how Elizabethan Culture affected Shakespeare and his play a Midsummer Night’s Dream.
This project was all about connection. You really had to connect to your part as a character and your offstage production role. I feel like my part as Oberon was easier to connect to than anything else. I think that my best moment during the project was when I improvised during the final exhibition. I felt like it improved the play and made people laugh and enjoy the play more. I am proud of how I improvised during the play and I had never done this before and I through it and I feel that it enhanced the play. Also this added piece flowed well in the play and I enjoyed doing it.
I think this project was most difficult when I was writing my dramaturg essay. I did not know what Elizabethan Culture was so I had to do a lot of self educating to understand what it was and how it truly affected Shakespeare. Shakespeare’s plays were greatly affected by the Protestant Reformation and other religious or political events of his time. I really had to persevere through that research because I was very confused on what to be looking for when I first started researching my topic. That is where i persevered during this project.
During this project I learned that you can get a lot done in a surprising amount of time. I thought that this play was not going to work out because we didn't have as much time as we needed to do all the production work and the play still needed to be blocked and most of the people were not getting too far through their lines.we did have a couple hiccups but we finished everything we needed to finish and the play turned out quite well. If you put your energy into something and you work for it you will get that task done and you can be proud of what you accomplished.
Well I don't know if I would say that the whole english speaking world celebrates his works, but yes he is celebrated by most or all who know if him and his works. Shakespeare affects our everyday life and what we say and do. I think we celebrate his works because we know and understand that he is great and that works are beautiful. I think if you say the name Shakespeare it sounds important, somehow you know or associate him with something great. I think the answer to this question is that humans recognize that he created beautiful works that should be recognized and should outlast the test of time.
