Los Cuentos Infantiles Proyecto
The Los Cuentos Infantiles Project was a project where the students made stories about a person or animal having an adventure or learning a lesson in a chosen town in a Spanish speaking country. The students needed to use the skills that they learned over the year and they needed to incorporate traditions or events that happen in the town, into the story. For example I wrote a story about a llama named Luis who was traveling through Cusco, Peru on his way to Machu Picchu. During his trip he eats traditional foods and gets to see the festival, Inti Raymi.
I think that this project is a great project to see if you know how to use the skills you learned without to much help from the teacher. I put a lot of the things I learned in Spanish to use this year during this project. I think my favorite part of this project was getting to draw and color fun pictures that kids would understand. I think I learned that there is never any time to slack off on this project. I was a couple steps ahead of most kids for a little while and so I slowed down and lost some focus on my work and soon I was at the same spot they were. I should have worked to stay ahead so I could refine my book later. I think overall this was a great project and I loved how the students had to write the dialogue for it. It forced them to use their Spanish skills.

Dia De Los Muertos Project
This project was about Dia de los Muertos. Dia de los Muertos is celebrating and honoring death. In Mexico the people almost laugh at death because they make funny stories about there relatives as skeletons. In this project I wrote about myself being a skeleton and riding my bike. The problem with that is that every time I crash my bones break and when I get thirsty I can't drink that water because it just falls through me.
What did you learn from this project?
I learned that in Mexico people don't treat death as a bad thing. They think of death as part of life and something that should be happy not sad.
How did your skeleton reflect you?
My skeleton reflected me in that I love mountain biking. What it didn't reflect was that I don't find mountain biking hard because my bones aren't breaking as I ride.
What are you proud of in this project?
I am proud of how my words flowed together when I was speaking my profile in Spanish. I am also proud of my final paragraph. I had to do research to expand my vocabulary so I could write it.
What was difficult about this project?
I thought that coming up with what I was going to say in Spanish was very difficult. It was much harder than I thought it would be and it took three or four class periods to complete.
What would you do differently the next time?
I would probably think through what I was going to say more. I would also spend more time on my picture. I thought it was good but not the best it could be.
